| Synopsis | Originally written in 1886 for Cello and piano, in G major. Transposed in D major in order to take advantage the warm sound of the medium range of the viola. The piano part is played one fifth higher than the original, in order to keep this very important feature than the melodic part and the piano right hand are actually in the same octave (like the Swan floating on the Lake, neither above nor below it) |
