Written in German romantic style, as a contemporary hommage to great masters from the XIXth Century, this Sonata for Viola and Piano has a classical 4-movement structure:

  1. Bewegt, doch nicht zu schnell
  2. Andante: Ruhig
  3. Hungarisches Scherzo
  4. Finale: Misterioso, Bewegt

Like Johannes Brahms's clarinet sonatas, it was originally written for the Clarinet, and later arranged for Viola and Piano.
